Palisades fire

In light of the recent Palisades fire in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles (LA), the UCLA community has provided many resources to support Bruins and ways to get involved in aiding wildfire victims. To learn more about how to help those impacted by the Palisades fire and wildfires in LA, click the button below. 

The UCLA Newsroom webpage, “How you can help those impacted by the wildfires,” provides information on the Palisades fire and other wildfire status updates, a list of links for where Bruins can donate, find assistance and campus resources. The last update on this webpage, at the date of publishing, was on Jan. 17 at 1:10 p.m, and stated that the “current wildfires have had a devastating effect on Los Angeles County’s people and infrastructure … UCLA and local organizations have mobilized to support both the campus community and the broader public.”


Here is a list of several organizations outlined by UCLA Newsroom for information on how to help those affected by the Palisades fire through donations and other resources:

  • American Red Cross | UCLA Health – UCLA Health aids Red Cross efforts, offering emergency shelters, meals, medical care, emotional support and recovery services. Bruins can donate to the Red Cross disaster relief fund or volunteer. 

  • Salvation Army – The Salvation Army deployed trained teams to distribute food, water, shelter and essential supplies to those impacted by the fires.

  • California Fire Foundation – This organization offers support and relief resources for firefighters and communities affected by wildfires.

  • Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation – As the official nonprofit supporting the LA City Fire Department, this foundation provides firefighters and paramedics with essential tools and equipment.

  • Los Angeles Regional Food Bank – The food bank is collaborating with government agencies, nonprofits, faith-based organizations and other partners to assist with wildfire relief across Los Angeles County. They are accepting food donations at their distribution centers and welcoming volunteers.
